Porträts werden bei ihm zu Aktaufnahmen und seine Aktaufnahmen werden zu faszinierenden Studien weiblicher Erotik. Und diese erotische Welt implodiert, fällt und schlägt wie ein Projektil durch den breit gespannten Schirm der öffentlichen Neugier ein. Der britische Fotograf Laurie Jeffrey, der zu den profiliertesten Künstlern der erotischen Aktfotografie gehört, pickt prickelnde Motive auf, die knapp wie ein Logo für einen ganzen erotischen Kontext stehen und eine Geometrie der Sinnlichkeit und Leidenschaft bilden. Und darum sind seine phantastischen Arbeiten weitaus mehr, als nur ein künstlerisches Ausrufezeichen.

1963, a council flat in Greenwich London, England, Laurie Jeffery was born the son of a betting shop manager and a part time school cleaner. From an early age it became clear that Laurie was unlikely to follow his school colleges into any of the local businesses. He quickly displayed a talent for music and art. Although the masters at the grammar school thought him a little slow, when a random IQ test was carried out, Laurie had a rating that was the highest in the school, including the masters. Laurie left school a year and a half early with no fewer than eight A levels, ten O levels and an S level, and went straight to university to study a degree in photography. Four years later found him with his degree, working in New York for American Vogue and American Avon as a freelance fashion photographer. After a year Laurie returned to England where he was to operate from a large studio in trendy Chelsea, London. Here he spent four years shooting fashion and commercials developing his talant and travailing extensively. During these years the photographs and commercials he produced for advertising clients and graphic designers, won numerous national awards - Clios, One Show Gold, Art Directors Gold, Fuji film award, CA Annuals, etc. About this time however, he became particularly interested in photographing the nude, finding commercial photography less and less demanding. Now, liveing and working from his cottage in Lancashire in the north of England, these days Laurie works in advertising, beauty, TV commercials and of course, nudes. In addition to his studio work, he enjoys the discipline of shooting on location with natural light and in particular the South West Coast and rugged Northwest region of England. He also spends about three months each year shooting in various Locations in Europe and the Philippines. It is very likely that you would have already seen much of his work in fashion magazines, travel brochures, calendars or posters, TV etc. While his on line portfolio offers a small sampling of his photographs, he has well over 2,000 images and a growing number of live action video clips in his libraries. Always prolific, his work output has increased since moving into the countryside to the extent that a compilation of his personal work under the title of Bodyscape is soon to be published.
